The Nottingham quartet beat Gedling's Roger Nicholson, Brian Subden, Richard Button and Trevor Taylor 27-21 in Sunday's final, played at the new Lammas Leisure Centre, home of Sutton in Ashfield Indoor Bowls Club. Nottingham's Alistair Hansen will come up against Brian Subden again soon, in the County Singles final (date & time TBC). Club News, 24th March 2009 Pam Cutts, Sue Mart and Jackie Turner have won the British Isles Ladies Triples title in Belfast this afternoon. Nottingham's ladies, who qualified for the event after winning the English triples championship in February, took the title after beating Scotland's Teresa Matthews, Jan Woodley and Angela Boyle 15-8 in today's final. The British Isles Indoor Bowls Council (BIIBC) championships bring together the national champions from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the Channel Islands to compete for the title of British Isles Champions. England beat the Channel Island's Shirley Petit, Angela Bartie and Carol Ingrouille 15-12 in Wednesday's Semi-Final to set up today's final against Scotland. The Scots beat Wales 17-16 in their Semi-Final. The title caps a very successful few days for Pam Cutts and Sue Mart, after they helped England win the Women's International Series. Mart & Cutts, playing together on the rink skipped by Lincoln's Penny Strong, won all three of their games - beating Ireland (19-18), Wales (16-15) and Scotland (25-14). England won the decisive final game against Scotland 111-97 over the 6 rink, 21 end game. Club News, 19th March 2009 Pam Cutts, Sue Mart and Jackie Turner have clinched Nottingham's second national title of 2009, after they won the EWIBA National Triples title at Lawson Park IBC on Tuesday 3rd March 2009. The Nottingham triple cruised to victory in yesterday's final, outclassing their Wey Valley opponents. After qualifying from the Nottinghamshire area, Nottingham beat Cumbria 21-12 in their last 16 tie. Their quarter-final game was very one-sided, with Nottingham coming out on top against Bristol 23-8, which set up a semi-final clash with Torquay United. The Torquay ladies were full of confidence after their players had won the National Fours title 2 days prior. A thrilling game unfolded, with the game going down to the final end after the scores were tied at 15-15 after 17 ends. Excellent leading from England international Sue Mart, ably followed up by Jackie Turner and skip Pam Cutts, gave victory to Nottingham 16-15. This title caps an incredible record of three national titles in three years for skip Pam Cutts. Pam won the National Unbadged Pairs title with Audrey Pinder in 2007 and the English & British Isles Pairs with team-mate Sue Mart in 2008. The Nottingham ladies will now go on as England's representatives to the British Isles Championships at Belfast in April. Club News, 4th March 2009 |
